Retired Teacher

by Bob Hodsdon
(Maine)

5 Years ago I carelessly spilled a can of paint thinner in the wheel storage compartment of my car. Since I had no sense of smell, I rode around for 6 weeks breathing the toxic fumes. I was diagnosed as having double pneumonia. Thus, I spent 19 days in the hospital, had biopses done on two lobes of my lungs. Conclusion: pulmonary fibrosis. I was on a C-p machine for two years after leaving the hospital. My doctor prescribed prednizone witch somewhat stabilzed my condition but never totally addressed my situation.
