no more fives for me

by george carnegie
(forfar scotland)

About six years ago I started getting really sore hips and legs at the time I was still playing indoor football or five asides. I have played outdoor football and five asides for almost 40 years, and I put the pain down to doing too much, so I decided to stop at 52 thinking that would cure the problem. Over the years it only grew worse. I suffered from severe pain in my hips and back. Not given to going to see doctors, I was persuaded to go to my local gp who said I was suffering from osteoporosis and recommended painkillers and to see a surgeon whose only advice was to have a hip replacement. Not keen on surgery, I looked for an alternative and fortunately for me I found your site. Since starting to take vitamins and minerals and dietary changes as suggested, the pain in my hips has gone. I am able to walk and get upstairs without support. I have only been doing this over past four to six weeks and I feel so much better. I know it will take a long time before I'm back to full fitness, but this is the best I've felt for a long time. You have to be willing to make sacrifices in order to get better, but your site has been a godsend to me. I hope to be back playing again. Will keep you posted as time goes on.
