It is hereditary

Every generation the first born in my family takes after a certain ancester and each one of us have the same symptoms of autism, and the same personality, though our specialities differ. We have all been classed as Intellectually disabled, because the general system has no idea of how to get through to us, but a certain way of teaching does and this has been passed down from generation to generation. I am now doing the same for my child as what was done for me, etc, however, my position is a little different, as I am not the full time parent. My child needs constant teaching and routine which she's not getting from her custodial parent. In no way has any other sources caused it. It is genetic. With the right training we have now all got professional positions. My child however is being convinced that as she is disabled she won't be able to achieve her goals. I, too got this from most people and believed it for some time, but now I am up for promotion where I will be running the factory I work for and my autism has been an asset, not the other way around as the general population will have you believe. So, people don't blame something that is just a family quirk. Learn to use it to your advantage as my family have done. And don't ever think it is a disability. It is a difference.

The vast majority of parents with autistic children I speak to report that their child was normal and healthy until after they were given some vaccination. While your condition certainly seems to be hereditary, the vast majority of the time genes have little to do with it.
