Is this just a coincidence?

I am a 47 year old female and have recently been diagnosed after many different blood tests and hospital visits to hematologists and rhuematologists, with a mixed connective tissue disease (a form of autoimmune disease) As a child I was always 'under the weather', was often told off for being over dramatic about pain and the revulsion of certain smells and tastes. But the question I am asking here today is this. My 4 year old nephew has been diagnosed with autism. Could there be a genetic link between the two diseases?

Autism and autoimmune issues really don't have much in common. Each of them can be caused by a few different things and neither has been shown to be hereditary.
