Special Children
by: Anonymous

For a homework assignment I am looking for volunteers who are willing to have their opinions polled. Three questions:#1 What services provided by the county board does your child receive and how does it benefit them? #2 Describe your child's disability. In terms of strenghs and areas of need. #3 What expectations do you have for your child long term and how do you see the county board helping your child realize that goal? I would greatly appreciate any help possible. I work for the County Board of DD and if you decide to help please send your comments to my daughters e-mail LittleBearCat@yahoo.com
Thank you, Peggy.

Diet
by: Anonymous

My 3-yr-old son has been on a GFCF (gluten free, casein or cow's milk free) diet for one week.

Before going on the diet he screamed all the time, esp. when he was frustrated. He lost virtually all speech. He pretty much never made eye contact, didn't want to be held, rarely cuddled.

After one week of just cutting out gluten and dairy, his screaming and 'acting out' has been cut down about 90-95%, he is working hard on his words and I see good improvement every day (saying new words and two-word phrases), making better eye contact and he's about 100 times more connected. Wanting to play with his brother, wanting cuddle time, his face looks different. He looks happy, at peace.

Please do it. My son doesn't like a lot of foods, but I juice vegetables (organic carrots, spinach, kale, lemons, apples, any fruits/ berries, celery..etc) and sneak them into his orange juice. He also basically lives on veggie chips.
You need to be strict about this diet, I've heard though, or it really isn't effective.

Watch Julie Matthews. I stumbled onto her late one night and it's changed our lives. Both my sons are on this and it helps them both hugely with 'being connected' and happy and energetic.
God bless.

Don't Give Up
by: Anonymous

My son's name is Justin, he is 19. He was diagnosed at 5 years old. He went from a normal 4 year old, talking, potty trained, playful, to no communication. It was like he started being an infant all over again. He is now a 2nd year student in a wonderful program at our local Community College and although he struggles with his speech, he has friends and is adjusting to more of a "normal" life. I spent years and thousands of dollars on research, bio feedback and other experiments. The best results I have experienced have been the gluten-free diet in moderation and being an advocate for my son at school. He has had wonderful teachers and received all of the speech therapy and was main streamed in classes. Don't give up, the progress is slow, but you will notice many positive changes as your son gets older.

DIET
by: Anonymous

hi
My son Harry has also been diagnosed with PDD, chews his clothes and only eats chicken nuggets, spagetti and biscuits. I have now got him on a gluten and dairy free diet. Harry doesn't speak, he only says a few words at the age of three, however his conscentration and copying words has improved. I work 60 hours a week however h has adjusted to the new diet very well and I all I have done is chnge for example normal flour to gluten free flour, gluten free pasta and organic meat etc, and added calcium, omega 3 butter and flaxseed oil to his diet. The toxins coming out still after 2 months is astounding, don't give up, I haven't, you need to find yourself a DAN doctor, (defeat autism now). If you need to talk my name is Kathryn and my number at work is (02)
8 205 4448 in Sydney Australia, I can call you back
