autism in a teenager

i have always as a mother felt that my child was in some way not normal for want of a better word. As he was growing up i was convinced that he could not hear properly. He would never show an interest in any particular toy. He was put into a learning difficulties class, never really made close friends, they came and went and the only friends he held on to were children with a defect. i have asked his grandparents who have three children who are highly intelligent ...accountant, one owns his own business and the other works for the tax office all three of his fathers side have never had relationships or are married. They are very difficult to get on with and stay hooked continously on logic puzzles.
My son is a teenager who laugh as you might cannot adhere to cleaning his room, you say things and next he has forgotten and he doesnt reeally care sounds like a typical teenager doesnt it but most of the time he just does not get it.
I had a brief conversatuion with his grandparents who said that we are to leave psychologists alone we dont want to go there. This has been so frustrating to me that i still believe that my son who is now 17 is having difficulty.
He loves his art, but general life he finds difficult, is it possible that he could have inherited the disease and throughout his life has been missed.
I was married to his dad for three years, not much of conversationalist we divorced three years later. As i said, his sisters have never had a relationship and are now in there late 40's
my son tends to like very very loud music, and doesnt seem to recognise that it is a problem to others. he is well immpressed when it comes to the suduko puzzles and he has no common sense.
he never likes eye contact and used to as a child laugh when i told him off. Food was his main thing in life , now it has changed to alcohol i need advice as i am no longer in contact with his grandparents and i feel this is an inherent of their genes they are an odd family who just stick with themselves and sort each others lives out ommitting all relationships.
my son gets on with his life as best that he can but i look on as his mother and always wonder what if my child were overlooked and now he has reached teenager level does it get tougher for him or easier.

This appears to be genetic and not fundamentally autistic in nature. His brain is probably not utilizing or absorbing some nutrients properly. It can be helped. The most important products to use are: MindMattersRx to supply the lacking nutrients - use a bottle a month. And Custom Elixir Brain to stimulate repair and regeneration in the brain. Use 2 bottles a month. You may well notice improvement in a week. Use for about 6 months.
is there some sort of bloodtest that can define this genetic disease or must my boy go on mis understanding life.
